MATTHEW C. SMALLEN
I paint in two different ways: realistic and abstract. They are opposite styles, but my philosophical approach is the same for both: try to create a beautiful image. Two paths, one destination. Humans are instinctively attracted to beauty; you just know it when you see it. It usually takes about one second to identify. If you are looking for symbolism, metaphors, or agendas, I do not intentionally use these tools. My tools are the hand, the eye, and cyan, magenta, yellow, and white. Give it a second. If you like what you see here, I have succeeded. If not, c'est la vie!
