DETAILED PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
All paintings for sale from Smallen Studios are original oil paintings, signed on the back by the artist, Matthew C. Smallen. They are created on prepared canvas stretched over 1.5-inch wood tongue-in-groove stretcher bars. The canvas is wrapped around the sides and fastened flush in the back. The 1.5-inch sides are painted black, as these are not intended to be framed. They come ready to hang on the wall with 20-pound test hanging wire attached by D-ring hangers that are screwed to the back of the side stretcher bars one third of the way down from the top.
AUTHENTICATION
Smallen Studios includes a Certificate of Authenticity with all original artwork sold. It will include a description and graphic image of the work and will be signed by Matthew C. Smallen. If you would prefer to have the Certificate mailed immediately ahead of the delivery of the artwork or would like an image emailed to you, please indicate your request on your order submission or email the request to matt@matthewsmallen.com.
This website will also be maintaining a complete catalogue raisonné of all Smallen Studios paintings as long as the Internet exists and Mr. Smallen’s estate is solvent. This website should be quite adequate for future authentication.
CLEANING / REPAIRING
Mr. Smallen is available to clean, varnish, and/or re-varnish all of his work, as long as he is alive and working, free of charge if you are able to get the work to and from Smallen Studios. He will also evaluate and make repairs for free if it is deemed possible and reasonable. If it is deemed possible but not reasonable, he will provide an estimate for your consideration.
SHIPPING
We currently only ship orders within the continental United States. Your order will be sent through UPS via their specialty artwork packaging and shipping service. We only ship standard ground and do not offer rush delivery.
A signature will be required by UPS when your painting is delivered. Before signing, please inspect the box for any damage that you think might indicate damage to the painting inside. If there is such damage, refuse the delivery and do not sign. UPS will return it to Smallen Studios, and an insurance claim will be opened.
RETURN PROCEDURE
You have 14 days from the time you sign for the delivery to return the painting for any reason. Should you decide to return it please contact Smallen Studios by emailing Matt@MatthewSmallen.com or calling 503-867-6163 to obtain a return authorization number. Without this number no returns will be accepted and no refunds will be issued. You will be responsible for return shipping costs. Once the painting is received in good condition, undamaged, and the same as when it left Smallen Studios, we will issue your refund minus the 15% restocking fee. Refunds will be issued to the Paypal, credit, or debit card account used to make the original purchase.
For return shipping, we suggest taking the painting to a UPS Store location and sending it via their “pack-ship artwork” service. Here is a link with more info: UPS. They will package the painting for you. This is also the only way they will insure the full value of the painting should you decide to insure the shipment. Smallen Studios is not responsible for damage to the painting after you have signed for the initial delivery and refunds will not be issued if the painting is damaged during return shipping.
